A pipe distributor is a ladder-type liquid distributor with a large free area for gas, for packed towers with medium or lower liquid loads.
A network of pipes with small holes, placed above the packing, that spreads the liquid evenly over it.
Choose This Product When
- Your liquid load is medium or lower
- Your gas flow is large
- Your liquid is free of solids
- Your tower needs high cleanliness (plastic type)
Product Description
The pipe distributor has a simple structure, a large free cross-section for gas flow and low resistance. It is mostly used in packed towers with medium or lower liquid loads, and gives very good distribution where many spray points are needed. The liquid must be free of solids, with a filter screen at the inlet.
How It Works
A main header feeds branch pipes with small holes along their length. Liquid flows out of the holes evenly across the column. In the pressure type, the liquid is pumped in; in the gravity type it is fed from a box above.
Features
- Free area for gas above 70%
- Operating flexibility 2:1 to 2.5:1
- Double-row type for higher flexibility
- For large, medium and small towers

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I use a pipe distributor?
In packed towers with medium or lower liquid loads, when many distribution points and a large open area for the gas are needed.
What if the liquid contains solids?
Small holes can block, so a filter upstream is recommended. For dirty liquids a trough distributor may be a better choice.
